I'm going to be honest from the start here - I am a sucker for a pretty highlighter. High-end, Drugstore; you name it - I've probably tried it at some point, and no matter how perfect I think one may be, I'm always on the look-out for the next best.
Until now.
I've been oggling MAC's Cream Colour Bases for the longest time, and when Tanya Burr posted a tutorial using one in the colour 'Hush', I decided I had to get my hands on it. After finding it was sold out in various places online and in a few stores, which only excentuated my desperation for this product, I was ecstatic to find one in the stand-alone store in Brighton. This store is amazing by the way, it was really busy when I visited on the weekend but the staff were lovely and couldn't have been more helpful.
I used it that night as my boyfriend and I were going out for dinner, and oh boy, it is beautiful. As the name suggests, it's a creamy highlighter with a tint, which is great if you don't want to go too full on with blush; however it is very flattering when applied over blush too. It enhances the pigment and longevity of the colour you put onto your cheeks, and also looks lovely on the bridge of the nose and Cupid's bow.
While can be worn during the day as a subtle blush/highlighter hybrid, this is a more special product for me, and I'll be saving it for evenings out when I like to spend more time on my make-up. It has completely rivalled my previous favourite, the Topshop Glow Pot in 'Polished', which of course is still stunning, but the pinky/champagne pigment to 'Hush' just blows 'Polished' out of the water. While Topshop's Glow Pot is much more affordable at £9, 'Hush' is very affordable for a MAC product at £15.50, especially considering you only need the smallest amount.
'Hush' applied lightly to cheekbones.
I genuinely feel that with these two products I don't need anything else to highlight. Powder highlighters have never really impressed me, and I couldn't imagine a highlight more beautiful than 'Hush' in particular.
